BONNEVILLE 5, STANSBURY 4 (F/8)
Justin Longman hit an RBI groundout as Bonneville walked off against Stansbury in the bottom of the eighth inning on Senior Day. The Laker win over the Stallions sent Ogden to the playoffs as the No. 4 seed from Region 11.
Even though Bonneville (7-11 Region 11) and Ogden (7-11) have the same record, the Region 11 tiebreaking procedures for baseball don’t include a play-in game for the final playoff spot.
The Lakers took an early 3-0 lead, then Stansbury scored four runs in the fourth inning to go ahead 4-3. Bonneville tied the game 4-4 from a Stallions throwing error.
In the top of the eighth inning, Lakers left fielder Will Toller caught a fly ball for the second out of the inning and then threw a runner out at home plate to end the inning. Bonneville loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth before Longman’s at-bat.
JUAN DIEGO 6, OGDEN 5
Juan Diego defeated Ogden in a game that was rained out earlier this season.
However, the Tigers qualified for the 4A state playoffs as the No. 4 seed out of Region 11 due to a head-to-head tiebreaker over Bonneville.
VIEWMONT 6, COPPER HILLS 0
Viewmont scored two runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth to beat Copper Hills in non-region action.
BONNEVILLE 15, PARK CITY 0 (F/3)
Sadie Westmoreland threw a three-inning no-hitter with four strikeouts as Bonneville clinched a playoff spot by beating Park City.
Izzy Togisala went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and a double, Sydnee Smith went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs and Bree Pedersen batted 2 for 2 with a triple and three RBIs for the Lakers.
Bonneville clinched the No. 3 seed from Region 11 in the upcoming 4A state playoffs.
